Straws: Making a Sea of Change, One Straw at a Time

Each day in the United States, humans use an astounding 500,000,000 plastic straws. Recent reports show that 5 trillion plastic pieces weighing over 250,000 tons are floating at sea, up to 80 percent of plastic in oceans comes from land-based sources and an estimated 5-13 million tons of plastic enter oceans each year.

To educate the nation about the growing plastic pollution crisis, director, producer and editor Linda Booker created a new documentary that exposes the negative impact of the billions of plastic straws that live in our landfills and oceans.

With colorful straw history animation and segments narrated by Oscar winner Tim Robbins, “STRAWS” aims to entertain and inspire action by showing how individuals, groups and business owners around the globe are reducing plastic straw use through awareness, outreach, policy and non-plastic alternatives like Aardvark paper straws.

STRAWS had its WORLD Film Festival Premiere APRIL 2017 at the Sonoma International Film Festival. Next premiere is 1st July 2017 at The Cayman Film Festival.
