Ocean-friendly Divewear Launches with Unique Business Model

DarkTyde, a new British divewear brand aimed at eco-conscious divers on a budget has been launched with a unique manufacturing and sales model.

When an order is placed via DarkTyde’s website it is sent direct to a print-to-order service managed by sustainable clothing group Rapanui. The manufacturer then produces and fulfils the order directly to the customer, virtually eliminating manufacturer-to-retailer carbon emissions.

DarkTyde’s entire TShirt and hoodie range is made from 100% certified organic cotton and made with all-renewable energy. The brand’s eco-credentials even stretch to shipping all products in zero plastic packaging and offering a recycling facility for when products reach the end of their usable life.

Printed on the Isle of Wight, the range consciously celebrates the darker side of British coastal waters, with muted colour garments and designs that include octopus, dogfish and anglerfish.

“As divers we should all be active protectors of the oceans. But it’s amazing how much damage we do by wearing fast fashion and man-made fibres. We should all demand ethical, ocean-friendly clothing and our PoD model allows us to offer sustainable divewear, even to those on a budget. It’s a win-win for customer wallets and our seas.”

Brand founder, John Haley, a BSAC Open Water Instructor and ex-commercial diver

DarkTyde products are available exclusively online at DarkTyde.com
