Fancy a Brew? Podcast (Series 2 Episode 7) – Talking to Cave Diver, Sara Banderby

Talking to Sara Banderby, she’s a cave and mine diver based in Sweden. Using her JJ-CCR and a variety of open circuit kit she tells me a variety of techniques she uses to improve her diving in cold waters often close to freezing.

Diving in colder waters might seem intimidating or a hassle, but under the surface, a different underwater world waits for those who take the step. Ice diving, well-preserved wrecks, mines and amazing sea life. Sara has been diving since 2009, but she didn’t start in the Baltic sea of Sweden. Going from cocktail diving to being a passionate cold-water diver, she wants to encourage more divers to start diving in their colder home waters.

Diving all year round, and working at a local dive centre in Stockholm, Sara is a CCR diver and Cave/Mine diver, and time not spent in the Swedish mines are spent on the wrecks. Through social media, she shares pictures and videos of deep mines and unknown wrecks, tips and tricks, and hopes to show that if she can do  it, you can do it as well.

About Author

Andy is the host of "Are you a diver, fancy a brew?" podcast which speaks to more and lesser known divers that interest him. Those with personality and a tale or message to tell. I’m less interested in those that have been on every show because we have all heard them 100’s of times but there are some real good people out there trying to do good things and I want to have a brew and get to know them, hopefully learning something at the same time. I pride myself on the research and post production that I see other podcasters miss out on. 10,000 downloads for season 1.
