You’ve probably spotted the rustic, 141-foot schooner lying in Jordan Harbour if you’ve driven along the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) along the Niagara stretch.
“La Grande Hermine” is a well-known icon in the area, but it may soon take on a new appearance.
The Canadian Coast Guard Central Region Vessel of Concern program performed a technical assessment of the vessel in March. The three masts are a source of concern, as is the fact that the ship poses a substantial risk to the environment, as well as to the public’s health, safety, and well-being. Bids are being reviewed from contractors to remove the masts. All inquiries must be sent to the Contracting Authority in writing no later than five days before the bid deadline on November 9.
Within four weeks of the contract being granted, the contractors currently bidding must remove and dispose of the masts in their entirety or in fragments, give proof of disposal, and secure dangerous accesses.

The boat had been purchased by a businessman who intended to transform it into a temporary casino, but the gentlemen passed away and the boat was abandoned. The owner of boat is undetermined as of this article.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada is presently seeking offers for the outdated ship, according to a public document on the federal government’s buy and sell website.
