Take a dip in the icy waters of the Pacific Northwest. This nature documentary was shot entirely on Vancouver Island’s rugged coastlines. Learn about the endemic species of this region, such as the Giant Pacific Octopus, Wolf Eels, and the colourful Puget Sound King Crabs. Discover the Emerald Waters.

John Roney has spent the past two years filming the local marine life off Vancouver Island, on the west coast of Canada. This is a collection of his favourite clips.

John Roney is an underwater videographer and documentary film editor.

Currently a video editor with SeaLegacy, John works alongside some of the most experienced and renowned photographers, filmmakers, and storytellers working on behalf of our oceans.

​Previously, John worked as the Senior Video Editor at Media One and M1Films, where he primarily worked in documentary and reality TV, while also creating commercials for such clients as Microsoft, The Royal BC Museum, The Robert Bateman Foundation, Shockwave Seats, Nimmo Bay, The Wickaninnish Inn, and the University of Victoria.

With Media One, notable projects John worked on include Picking Up the Pieces: The Making of the Witness Blanket, a feature length documentary which follows one artist’s journey to understand the experiences of Residential School survivors, and The Oaklands Totem, a documentary about an elementary school challenging the status quo of Ingenious studies.

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Motion Picture Arts from Capilano University.
