Based in California, Jeff Bozanic has done more for the world of diving than almost anyone we know. His experiences include leading or participating in over 60 diving expeditions over the past 40 years which have taken him to places like Palau, the Canary Islands, Mexico, and even Antarctica. It’s hard to say what’s more impressive, however: the prestigious awards he’s earned or his long list of published books on diving.

Bozanic literally wrote the book on how to use a rebreather. His textbook Mastering Rebreathers has been used by countless students and dive instructors alike. He’s also published extensively on diving education topics, with a strong emphasis on cave and rebreather diving. And has edited and reviewed many diving handbooks, including co-authoring the Antarctic Scientific Diving Manual and editing The NOAA Diving Manual. Jeff is currently working as an instructor conducting rebreather, cave, nitrox, advanced nitrox, decompression procedures, and trimix diving courses (as well as instructor courses).

You can hear more from Bozanic on this Thursday’s livestream event including the opportunity to learn more about his accolades including “Diver of the Year (Science)” for Beneath the Sea in 2018 and the honored recipient of NAUI’s Lifetime Achievement Award. It’s no wonder Jeff’s mantle is so heavily laden considering all the expedition’s he’s taken part in. Hopefully he’ll glean some insights on his work in Antarctica, a place not many of us have had the honor of visiting or diving. Among other things, it was there that Jeff worked on a project meant to simulate life on Mars!

Jeff Bozanic

There’s literally too much to say about Jeff Bozanic, so you’re just going to have to join DIVETALKS this Thursday at 1 p.m. EDT to get more of the details. Jeff is expected to speak on a wide range of topics, from rebreathers and consultation work on cases related to scuba fatalities to his contributions in underwater science. Anything and everything is on the table and we all have the opportunity to ask him any questions that come to mind; you can do so by leaving your queries in the livestream’s comment section.
